I'm supporting Joanna because I think she has the experience and the skills to be a powerful advocate for the needs of the students, families and schools of the Annapolis area. Joanna is a parent at Annapolis High where she is the Vice President of the PTSA and she brings decades of experience teaching at the college and continuing education levels, serving on and chairing the board of a private school, and leading accreditation teams evaluating public charter schools around the country. This is the first time we've been able to vote for our representative on the Board of Education, and it is a critical vote. Joanna is passionate about education, and is devoted to making sure ALL our children have access to the great education they deserve. She will advocate for smaller classes, working to attract and retain the best teachers by bringing teacher pay in line with surrounding counties, adding sufficient counseling, psychological, and social work staff, bringing school start times in line with medical recommendations and developmental needs, and funding transportation appropriately so that our children have safe, reliable transport to and from school.
