On Tuesday, July 12, 2016, 6:00 P.M. the Caucus of African-American Leaders cordially invite you to attend a community dialogue with representatives of the Annapolis and Anne Arundel County Police Departments.
The meeting will take place at the historic Wiley H. Bates Legacy Center, 1101 Smithville Street, Annapolis, Maryland. Doors will open at 5:15 p.m. and complimentary food and beverage will be served. Special thanks to Arlene Jackson and her volunteers.
For those attending for the first time, you will find free parking in the rear of the building. The meeting will begin promptly at 6:00 P.M. and will end at 8:00 P.M.
Our community like other communities across the nation have seen violence close up. We have witness too many young people dying senselessly.
We know that police and community relations have been historically challenged. We have invited elected officials, civil rights leaders, clergy, civic and others to join us in a dialogue.
Recently, Alderman Jared Littman shared with us 15 recommendations on Gun Violence and Race, that is being recommended around the nation that communities consider.
We know from past experiences that solutions work, when people work. We hope that your busy schedules will allow you to join us in a community dialogue on Tuesday, July 12, 2016, when we seek to address the major issues of our day.
