This Friday, January 15, our speaker will be Dr. Alvin Thornton, Senior Academic Advisor to the President of Howard University and Democratic candidate for U.S. Congress, 4th District.  Dr. Thornton is  best known for his role as Chairman of the Thornton Commission,” the State’s Commission on Education Finance, Equity and Excellence (1999).  Its recommendations resulted in legislation (2002) on the funding of public elementary and secondary education.
